why don’t you: the holiday edition.

21 December 2008

the holiday edition. because we all have so much time to spend during the holidays,

so pourquoi pas?

christmas

Order yourself a Moleskine (or any other lust-worthy journal, for that matter), personalize the cover with lovely decorations (I personally would encrust it with crystals), and doodle a masterpiece on the first page?

Find that old pointe shoe, spray paint it with glitter, attach a few embellishments here or there, and hang it up on your Christmas tree/door/wall?

Bake these scrumptious looking Chocolate Chip Cookie Cupcakes? Or shall I call it the CCCC for short?

Throw a last minute cocktail party where every guest is required to dress up, compile a playlist of dance-inducing songs (if you need any ideas just let me know, I have quite the list), and dance the night away?

Start a “Spending” savings account (quite the oxymoron) with all the gift money you receive? That way, the next time you pine for days over  that Giuseppe Zanotti patent, Swarovski crystal-encrusted bootie or that Miu Miu you’ve lusted for years? (The last was a direct reference to yours truly..)

Remember the few “Shopping for Others” posts? Keep an eye out for things people you know will love – friends, family members, even fellow bloggers! If you see something, wrap it up, send it, and just imagine the look of surprise & excitement & immense gratitude on their face as they see the UPS package outside their door! Or…

Initiate a holiday gift exchange with fellow blogger(s)? It would be quite interesting & fun awaiting the packages and tearing the UPS box open!

Design your perfect bag? If you’d like, put a link in the comments so I can see, or attach it to an email here! I’d love to see your creations!

In the early morning, before the snow plows wake the entire neighborhood of sleep deprived commuters or school children, set a chair outside, and head out with a cup of hot chocolate in one hand and a camera in the other? Dress up for it too – a bit of glittery Urban Decay liquid eyeliner, colorful boots and matching scarves, the whole lot. Admire the morning, breathe the fresh air, & remember it forever with pictures. Why not feel glamorous while you’re at it? (Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner: $18, Sephora)

Carpe Diem? Grab a wingman and go clubbing – dance the night away! Kiss a cute boy, flirt with the sexy Starbucks guy behind the counter, sample some foods you’ve never tasted or thought you’d like, wear a bright turquoise eyeshadow (a la Gucci Spring 2009), put your best pout forward with bright pink lips, cut your long hair into a bob, smile & talk to the stranger you always meet at the library, etc. The day is yours, so seize it!

Buy a luxurious set of pajamas, matching fuzzy slippers & all, and don a satin eye mask so you can truly indulge as you get your beauty sleep?

Paint a message in the snow? Mix food coloring in a bottle with a nozzle with water. Then just paint away, drawing a picture, writing a message, expressing a wish, then step back to admire your masterpiece.

Rent a fabulous movie, pop the DVD into your laptop, pop a bag of popcorn, sit on your bed, & relax?

Book a last minute flight to somewhere you’ve always wanted to go? Make a spontaneous trip to Paris, London, or where ever you choose!

Invest in a fabulous cashmere scarf or shawl? I came across such a fabulous gray, leopard print one that felt like heaven to the touch. I hate myself for not mustering the courage to look at the price tag or hinting to my mother that I would be willing to give up Christmas and birthday presents for a year for that scarf. So do avoid this mistake of mine! After all, cashmere is an essential to every winter wardrobe; it’s luxurious, warm, and just, well, fabulous.

xoxo,

La C.

P.S. Please feel free to enlighten us all with some your “why don’t you” questions! I’d love to hear them!

Pourquoi pas baking your own lemon cheesecake with Opera tea (vanilla and spices) and flip through the pages of French Vogue while your cat cuddles at your feet and the snow falls behind the window… that’s what my Sunday is all about!

Hope you have a gorgeous Sunday too! Love from the Alps!

Thank you so much for the comment. The concert was fun. Lots of interesting folks. Watched a very pretty Native American guy dance..actually it was a stomp. Got to sit next to a punk guy in the balcony. Uber cool. Had to elbow a drunk girl who kept getting in my way. Held hands with a drunk guy. Of course, we walked in as if we part of Northern Exposure. But a beautiful light show..our favorite tunes from Faint. On the way out..it was going through a fog in the entrance. Subzero temps out..Steam was actually coming off people’s bodies as they left.

Unfortunately, I’m having to take short cuts this year with friends..lots of crochet stuff I’ve been doing like hats and flowers, and going for the essential like a great lip balm from Niva. To entertain myself..go to poupee girl.com to play paperdolls.

oooh new heavy metal colors!! Love the brightness…

    Why don’t you…
play some jazz music and pretend that you’re in broadway’s Chicago?
draw yourself a hot bath, with scented bubblebath and candles, and your favorite magazine, while listening to your favorite music?

-eat 5 tubs of ben and jerries all to yourself.
-dance around your house like an idiot to your favourite song.

    🙂 xx
