i ♥ korcula.

31 March 2009

The best early birthday present ever.

korcula-laura-ring-ss-09

Well, technically it wasn’t intended for my birthday. But the package, courtesy of Korcula, did arrive in close vicinity to my birthday (only a few days until Sunday, April 5th!); thus it seems only reasonable to label it as such. Thank you Lindley!

It was just as beautiful as I imagined it would be, when I wrote about Korcula a while back. So imagine my joy, giddily jumping on my chair when Lindley emailed me. A few weeks later, with that same child-like excitement, I pounced upon the package. Daintily boxed with twine and natural colors – simply gorgeous and aesthetically in tune with the brand’s aura. It almost pained me to undo the bow. Oh, but the ring within beckoned me to do so (carefully). The Laura ring (available in rose gold or yellow gold at $98) is indeed as gorgeous as it looks; unbelievably delicate and dainty craftsmanship form the tiny lattice design. A bit YSL reminiscent, a la runway caged heels, but less utilitarian. The lattice ring is light, feminine – part ethereal, part mysterious, part Grecian, almost.

I’ve been been wearing it for three days straight, admiring how lovely it looks with my pale, baby pink polish.

the laura ring, adorning my ever-grateful fingers. i find it funny that my usually tiny-tiny hands look rather average-sized, if not huge, in these photos. i need a good camera; these shots do the ring no justice!

I do love Korcula.

Bisous,

La C.

P.S.: Do check out Korcula’s new line, The Recessionista! They’re gorgeous, stackable gemstone rings, in blue topaz, white topaz, pink hydroquartz, and black garnet. Truly unique pieces at only $30 each (!), or in sets of three for only $75. A must have.

Lindley was kind enough to send me the exact ring and I must say, I rarely take it off. It adds such a great flash of gold on your hand in a subtle way.

and re: your tweet: I have Chanel Bleu Satin and i love it- its an unexpected twist from black. and your dark blue colour sounds phenomenal- i’m not really a fan of sparkly polish anyways, but I let Chanel slide lol 😉

Thank you for trusting us with your critique on your small hands, they don’t look too small to me. That is a beautiful ring. It reminds me of a silver thumb ring my mother gave me. Very special. I just love your blog. It’s one of the few places I can go that is always “girl world”. xo

(Your nail polish is gorgeous too) xx

It looks so good on you, La Lovely! And I daresay you absolutely deserve such a beautiful piece. It really is quite delicate despite how large the ring is and the heaviness of metal is miraculously dissipated by the lightness of the colour and the lightness of the lattice.

What a beautiful piece, for a beautiful writer! 🙂
