parties

Besides the fact that I would love to have this sign lighting up in my basement (I am quite the sucker for beautiful typography and pretty lights), I am in dire need of a party. One complete with a darkened room, strobe lights, and a sick DJ with an amazing hip-hop playlist. It feels incredibly weird to have not danced since the end of June when dance team’s season ended and the last semester of classes were finished – every time I hear something good on the radio I have this insuppressible urge to simply dance. And it doesn’t help that  my favorite heels are begging to be worn and danced in until my feet can barely move. They are feeling rather neglected at the moment.

I just need to dance my heart out.

And nothing fills a party void better than select photography from le Cobrasnake that are sans the drunken stupor and trashiness. My favorites over the past year:

Cobra Snake No Sleep Only Party

Cobrasnake 2

Cobrasnake - Don't Cry

cobrasnake - stockholm

Cobrasnake; Moschino

Cobrasnake 2.1

L o v i n g : the 1st girl’s hair colour bright red lips cropped leather jackets boyfriend blazers bodycon dresses the blonde’s outfit: the color the dress, the print, and those utility boots! sequined minis semi-sheer feminine blouses long, wavy, mermaid-like hair fringed 1920s minis that Moschino belt

I do love the photo of the first girl you’ve included – her haircut is fabulous, and I love how the red lights in the background match her lips!

  2. 27 July 2009 12:57 am

Ohh I love this post darlin! I often find myself at the cobrasnake when I need a little party to live vicariously through myself! I absolutely adore the first picture…the bangs plus the red lip! HOT. Oh and I would so hang that sign in my house in a heartbeat! I hope you are having a great Sunday and an even better week ahead! XOXO Liz

so many songs i wish i could dance to in a sweaty club instead of my bedroom.

  4. 27 July 2009 1:11 am

This is the kind of idiot I am: at first I thought the sign said “We Love Panties”. Yup, that’s just how I roll.
I like the first girl the best; her hair, her eyes, and that lip color.

    • 29 July 2009 1:12 am

cindy: I need those boots in my life! And I do feel yah on that one darling. My bedroom is hardly comparable to glamorous little clubs.

I know the feeling… but I suggest downloading Welcome To The Dollhouse: The Mixtape by DJ Lissa Monet. I’ve never danced so much in my life! She’s an incredible DJ (Female at that so POW!)

    Here’s the link: http://lissamonet.com/blog/2008/12/download-now-welcome-to-the-dollhouse-mixtape/

Shimmy and shake it responsibly 😉

P.S. check out her other mixtapes too, xxo

    • 27 July 2009 1:28 pm

Natalie: Thank you so much for the link! I absolutely ADORE her; and am now a huge fan thanks to you! (: I’m currently browsing through her site for more amazingness (:

And I love that phrase, “shimmy & shake responsibly.” SO TRUE. bisous! xx

  21. 27 July 2009 2:16 pm

When I buy a house, I plan to have signs all over the place. READ for the library, EAT for the dining area. LOVE for the bedroom. PARTY for the porch area/yard. 😀

  22. 27 July 2009 2:36 pm

love these shots! i’m so with you on all of this.
i too have been craving a good ol’ night out dancing. really really have. dancing around like an idiot in my bedroom just doesn’t cut it.

    • 27 July 2009 2:37 pm

Meream: And then you must take pictures so I can see! That sounds like such a fantastic idea!

esther: I’m feeling you on the bedroom; lately I’ve been blasting music and dancing around, but it isn’t quite the same as it would be at a Cobrasnake-worthy party (sans the alcohol & the likes, of course!)

  23. 27 July 2009 3:04 pm

This post makes me want to get my act together and part-ay this weekend. 🙂

  24. 27 July 2009 3:12 pm

i really like this selection of pics, they really do get you in the party mood!

  25. 27 July 2009 3:52 pm

i wanna party too! let’s party together, yeah?
i love how you picked actually decent pics from cobrasnake, most people pick the pictures of people looking absolutely wasted, horrible and tacky. i didn’t know there was a blogger out there that would pick pictures of things i actually liked that were on cobrasnake. kudos to you! and to your success, you’re making me jealous 😀

    • 27 July 2009 3:53 pm

lisa: This weekend would be the prime time to do so! (:

zoe: Yes, let’s! I tried; I really dislike those pictures; they look horribly trashy! Haha, thank you darling! (:

  26. 27 July 2009 4:54 pm

  29. 27 July 2009 6:03 pm

I love the photos from Cobrasnake! They always put me in a good mood! Here’s my entry:

It was a crazy day at work! I’ve had a long day and I couldn’t wait to go home and relax. So I walked back slowly, looking down at my sore feet and wondering what I’ll eat for dinner. Before I went up to my apartment, I checked my mail and screamed! Oh yes! Merci! My Current/Elliot black leggings I won from La Couturier! I did a little dance and then looked around to make sure nobody saw it but couldn’t care less if anyone did!

This is perfect! This is amazing! This is exactly what I want! I talked to myself while I paced back back and forth around my living room like a mad woman clutching the leggings. So now! What should I wear with it? The possibilities! But for tonight, I will pair it with my new white pocket tee from NastyGal Vintage and my printed Chanelesque jacket and my beautiful dimaond bracelet from my dear aunt. Then I’ll put on a pair of gladiator heels and mess up my hair a little bit for that casual coolness. Finally I’ll grab my black leather bag and headed out the door feeling as fabulous as a Manhanttan socialite! Au Voire! xxoxoxoxoxoxo

  30. 27 July 2009 9:44 pm

  32. 27 July 2009 10:33 pm

Great photos. I know what you mean. I want to go to some sort of party. Things have been fairly miserable in my life lately so a party might help cheer me up. Hope your week started off well. Cheers!

    • 27 July 2009 10:34 pm

Lynn: As am I! (: I’m quite excited to read your entry darling!

  38. 28 July 2009 5:19 am

Great post! I love lack of drunk stupor in these pics as well… sometimes partying is just so much less glamorous than it should be. The first girl is fab as is the fourth. I adore the boots the last girl is wearing as well. Probably the most practical footwear for dancing in!

    • 28 July 2009 5:19 am

An: I love her hair! It’s making me want to reach for a pair of scissors and get those bangs!

Gerri Ward: So true; I will most definitely do so this weekend!

hauteworld: Drunkenness makes it so unglamorous! And I adore those boots as well, though I am a heels-type of girl through & through!

  39. 28 July 2009 8:40 am

    I do love it too!
I read and I wanna have fun right after!
I also love Cobrasnake…they are the best at the dancing floor!

  40. 28 July 2009 9:52 am

hey sweetheart, great post! very inspirational! right now my hair is growing again after wearing them more short for the last five years. so yeah, i’m looking for the mermaid style wavy hair 😉 can’t wait for fall and winter so i can wear my buckly boots from thomas wylde and my beloved vivienne westwood suede buckle boots again ❤ – oh well – an epiphany: i'm addicted to buckle shoes + boots…..
    much love to you!!

  41. 28 July 2009 10:32 am

Oh my, I haven’t been to an amazing strobe-light-and-awesome-music party yet. But i dream of a perfect one where people have fun without getting stupid. I love the 4th picture!

    • 28 July 2009 10:33 am

KIRAFASHION: Exactly! I’d love to have the Cobrasnake take snapshots of me one day… (:

Modediktat: I’m addicted to buckled shoes & boots as well! (: I can never get enough – especially if they’re black! Much love to you, kisses!

Mo: Exactly! I wish people could party sans the stupid drunken stupor ):

  42. 28 July 2009 2:25 pm

    that frill dress is amazing!!

  43. 28 July 2009 4:15 pm

Why doesn’t need to dance at least every now & then? At least I do! Those cobrasnake pics are pretty cool, makes wish I was in the middle of summer… wearing dresses without tights!

    xx

Jamie: Isn’t it? I love it!

heartonmysleeveca: SAME! I had my bangs like that a few years ago (I pride myself in getting such a cut before Mischa Barton & others started the trend); and now I want to go back to it!

      miranda: Yes, let’s! (:

  47. 28 July 2009 7:20 pm

In a few months?! You haven’t danced? Go clubbing darling LC!

    (oh wait, you’re not 18 yet… 😦 )

But these photos are fantastic, if Cobrasnake only had these kind of stylish photos, then I’d actually like it. But 90% of it grosses me out… LOL

  50. 29 July 2009 12:09 am

i’m in need of a good party myself, i have the dress in the second photo 🙂

  51. 6 August 2009 3:52 pm

I admit I also love really trashy parties…. and if I were in Geneva this summer I guess I’d have partied five days a week but these pictures are so cute because they in fact show a lot of taste…. untrashy taste !!

So in the mood for party now !
