blog love thursday: a feature

16 July 2009

The ever lovely (and unbelievably talented) Christine Kim of What Was I Thinking? was so kind as to featuring La Couturier for her latest feature, Blog Love Thursday. I was absolutely floored that such amazing of a blogger would want to interview me; and to my greater surprise, she drew this incredible picture of me, for me (the original photo is here)! I simply cannot thank her enough!

The Interview: BLT No. 4

BLT! What Was I thinking, Christine Kim

La Couturier defies conventional methods of fashion blogging. You won’t find any photos of her personal wardrobe or even any portaits at all (how mysterious!). What she does offer, however, is her own opinion on fashion! By doing so, she’s very cleverly carved a niche for herself as a fashion commentator and trusted fashion advice columnist. Merci beaucoup, La Couturier!!————————————————————————————–

She’s got quite an extensive FAQ so I got down to the nitty gritty with La Couturier.

How did you become such an articulate writer?
I’m not quite sure how I became such an articulate writer – or, moreover, if I really am one! All I do know of is that I’ve always loved English, literature, & writing since I was little (kindergarten, to be exact, actually!). And the passion has only grown since then, never once subsiding.

How did you snag your internship?
I’ve just recently resigned from my internship for reasons I shall leave just to myself; but my then boss, Letitia (editor-in-chief of Dujour Magazine) had somehow stumbled across my blog in its early beginning. I assume that she liked my writing voice and personal style, thus offering me a position on her team!

Any advice on how fashion bloggers can keep things fresh on their blogs?
Keeping things “fresh” on your blog is not completely synonymous with updating posts with the latest editorials, trends, designers, etc. Of course you can, if you so wish to make your blog an informative one like Fashionista. However, inserting your point of view, perspectives, and opinions is what keeps your blog fresh and different from the other millions of blogs in the blogosphere (so they call it). Do not be afraid to show who you, as both a person and a lover of fashion, are.

Will we ever see your face?
Ah, the omnipresent question asked by nearly everyone who has stumbled upon my blog. Those who have been readers for quite some time will know that I do enjoy my anonymity, as it does – to some extent – make my opinions, ideas, etc. much more credible. I did, however, succumb and reveal my age in quite the epic post back in April (currently seventeen years old!). And truth be told, I would love much more for readers to read about my thoughts and ideas on whatever I blog about – not simply what I chose to wear. So perhaps one day I’ll reveal my face. Perhaps.

bisous,

La C.

Cafe Fashionista: I do love having an air of mysteriousness & anonymity… (; But to be honest, there really isn’t too much that is exciting about me (:

  12. 17 July 2009 12:05 am

    Aww~ That’s so sweet!!
Your anonymity is pretty mysterious..I mean..what if you’re some super mega famous person or related to one…..but none of us know it. Or maybe…you’re…right behind me…DUNDUNDUN.

    Have a good one!

An: Hahahahaha. I assure you I am hardly famous, nor am I related to anyone of celebrity status (I think?) (; Oh. Maybe I am behind you. Cue scary music…

      bisous! xx

  13. 17 July 2009 12:10 am

The drawing is marvelous beyond words, and I loved the interview, but it was too short.

  14. 17 July 2009 12:49 am

What can I say the interview and the drawing go hand in hand, they are solely both lovely!!!

  15. 17 July 2009 3:41 am

you certainly know how to inspire 😉

  16. 17 July 2009 3:46 am

forgot to say that what you advised on blogging – how we have to put a personal touch into it – is totally true. my fashion blog is not as half as interesting to people as my second blog nobourgeoisie.blogspot.com … probably because it is unique and has my own personal touch 🙂 check it out 😉

  17. 17 July 2009 4:44 am

I love how you say that inserting your own point of view is the way to go for a fresh blog, anyone can do the latest pictures and trend, right? I think it’s that personal taste we all look for in a blog.

  18. 17 July 2009 7:56 am

I do remember the age post! I was so surprised! The sneak peek was fun though, I saw it on twitter and rushed over to your blog to see it! I’m such a stalker ^^

Congratulations on the interview and the illustration, it looks amazing ^^

    • 17 July 2009 7:57 am

maja: Aw, thank you – that is the greatest reward I get from blogging: knowing (well, hoping, rather) that I’ve inspired! I will check out your other blog! (:

Shini: Precisely; I guess that is why people love outfit posts so much!

anywhere I lay my head: Haha you are adorable (:

      bisous! xx

  19. 17 July 2009 8:44 am

    Congrats on getting featured! =]

  21. 17 July 2009 12:18 pm

    Loved reading the FAQ’s!

I think not being able to see pics of you makes is what makes this blog so refreshing, every single post you share is an amazing piece to read!

    xx

    • 17 July 2009 12:19 pm

Ale.: Thank you darling! Do let me know if I should ever sound monotonously boring and post stagnant articles! Lol (; Bisous! xx

  22. 17 July 2009 12:26 pm

I actually found your blog through her! I loved the interview so much that I decided to check you out. Christine is really great.

  23. 17 July 2009 12:30 pm

Ahh always mysterious, you are. 🙂

  24. 17 July 2009 12:30 pm

what a great interview – i did one too today. hope it will come off as well! have a lovely weekend la C, bisous

  25. 17 July 2009 12:56 pm

Great feature! And I’m loving your blog by the way, it’s a great read. I agree with you on the whole keeping blogs fresh. It’s easy to fall in the trap of posting every update from runway shows, but if people really wanted that, they would probably just go to style.com anyway. Finding a niche is the best, but probably the hardest, advice to take.

  26. 17 July 2009 1:43 pm

    very very stylish !

  27. 17 July 2009 2:36 pm

    Congrats !!!
I’m SO in love with your new layout dear, I can’t stop thinking how great it looks every time I come here !

    • 17 July 2009 2:37 pm

      bisous! xx

  28. 17 July 2009 4:28 pm

I love the drawing.. it looks great. Great interview too, it helps readers get to know you a little more.

  29. 17 July 2009 4:53 pm

Yay! Congrats on the interview. I never realized we’re basically the same age (in a month…). And wow! This is what I love about blogging, the idea that really everyone could see what you’re posting.

  30. 17 July 2009 5:21 pm

What a great interview! I’m an English major but oh, how I dream to write as elegantly as you are! You’re a talented writer for sure and I can see you writing for a major fashion magazine! I love the illustration of you! xxoxoxoxo

    • 17 July 2009 5:22 pm

Shin: Aw, thank you so much! I really do wish I was as good as you say I am (; You’re much to sweet! bisous, xx!
