the all-american thing they call prom.

24 April 2009

car

Also known as the event that every high school girl should attend; after all, it is an American tradition. I must admit that I am rather excited… A night filled with getting ready and dressing up, pre-prom spent with the best, and a night filled with dancing followed by an after party is quite the life. Mmmm oui.  J u n i o r   p r o m , 4.24.09.

And it is no surprise that I have opted for classic simplicity; it is more me than the usual selections other girls opt for. I do love minimality. Mon ensemble? A strapless little red dress (fitted, of course), black heels, a silver cocktail ring, and a gorgeous statement necklace. Le maquillage? Dark, smokey eyes (my absolute favorite and signature when I do actually wear make-up), bronzed skin, and nude lips. Barcelona Red nail lacquer by Chanel on my toes and fingers. And les cheveux. Curled at the ends for a polished look. I like things un-fussy. C’est fin; gen, non

I should love to  d a n c e  through  l i f e  (a Wicked reference).

Bisous,

La C.

Great decision going for sinple. Too often you either get people that are to pouffy or look skanky.

  2. 24 April 2009 12:12 am

    Sounds fierce!

  3. 24 April 2009 12:24 am

Sounds absolutely gorgeous! Sure hope we get to sneak a peek at a pic of you in all your finery? 🙂

Have a ball! Or rather, a prom!

That a girl! Going bombshell is always the best choice. I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time.

  5. 24 April 2009 12:36 am

I love proms! I, too, go by simplicity. I can picture you and your red dress – classy!

  6. 24 April 2009 12:37 am

Your outfit sounds like it’s going to be amazing! You should post a picture of yourself! And I’m a junior, as well…but I don’t think I’m going to prom this year, haha.

  7. 24 April 2009 1:12 am

Hello La C. I think your outfit sounds amazing. I hope you have a great time. Cheers!

Your Tributes+your impeccable sense of style+your sexy, dancer self = I wish I could go to prom as your date. 😀

With my short hair, I think I could pull off the look of a simple tux, no? Haha. 🙂

Oh, prom sounds like a lot of fun! We don’t have them here in Norway, not the traditional one at the end of high school, at least. Do enjoy yourself, darling – I’m sure you’ll be the belle of the ball in that outfit!

  11. 24 April 2009 5:52 am

    Sounds amazing! YAY!

    XoXo

It was so funny in U.S.A because at my hotel there was a prom and it was really… curious !
    Have fun dear !

  15. 24 April 2009 8:00 am

I would love to dance through life too, although I can’t dance at all;) Swirl through life I guess<3

Prom<3 I love prom, or ball as we call it xD I’m so happy there is no stress about needing to bring a date here in Norway or else I would be doomed xD I just love to dance with my friends;)

You know what? I know I’m going to buy the Chanel Barcelona red now, although I really don’t have the money! But now I can’t resist! The color is just so lovely, and I love red nails… It’s all your fault!

  16. 24 April 2009 10:37 am

Oooh love the sound of your outfit, hope you have an absolutely fabulous time!!!

  17. 24 April 2009 11:39 am

I’m sure you’ll be the most chic prom princess out there! I remember once staying in a hotel that happened to be hosting a prom. All I saw was poofy dresses and big hair. Such a cliche. It was quite scary actually…

  18. 24 April 2009 12:16 pm

I hope that you have a lovely time!!

  19. 24 April 2009 12:27 pm

Love the way you write! With the French peppered all over!:D Would love to see a picture of you in your dress! And your hair sounds, amazing! I can never get my hair to curl properly!

  20. 24 April 2009 1:08 pm

You are going to look as utterly breathtaking as the girl in the picture you included here. Don’t forget to make an entrance that will make everyone stop and stare. Though the way you just describe your look dujour, I don’t think you’ll need much to do that. Your mere presence will make jaws drop.

Have the time of your life darling!

  21. 24 April 2009 2:00 pm

have fun at prom honey! your ensemble sounds amazing! pleaseee could we see a photo?! 🙂

Gosh, looking back, my junior prom pics scare me re: my dress and hair. It’s funny how your sense of style evolves and what you thought looked amazing back then looks not so wonderful now. Your choice to go simple sounds like a standout winner. Can’t wait to see the pics. Hope you have an amazing time!

Hmm as they say sometimes less is more non? I was always so anxious when balls (proms?) came around, i’d feel so nervous and sheepish in the weeks leading up to them. Something I most definately am not missing these days lol.

Hope your wkend is lovely! 😀

  29. 24 April 2009 6:20 pm

Sounds so lovely and classic. Mine is coming up in June- I think I’ll be going for an equally simple look. do you mind me asking where you found your dress?

  36. 25 April 2009 12:44 am

Your prom outfit sounds AMAZING, ten billion times more sophisticated and well thought out than any of my high school prom outfits ever were!

  37. 25 April 2009 4:03 am

    That sounds very good indeed!

  38. 25 April 2009 6:49 am

oh gosh, prom…it seems like at my school it’s the only word on everybody’s lips. It sounds like you will look simply divine, however! Red is the best color for making a statement.

For my own (5/20), I’m seriously considering a peach vintage dress with cream lace detailing and flowers in my hair…gotta mix it up amongst the sea of fake satin and hairspray haha.

Oh and you should post pictures!! I want to see this vision realized 🙂

  39. 25 April 2009 6:54 am

Hi there-oh, have a wonderful time, you will certainly be one of the most stylish ones there!!

  40. 25 April 2009 7:00 am

I didn’t go to the prom but I have a strapless little red dress & black heels now. I was a late bloomer; I bloomed in my 30s I think. I’m not terribly prom..ish now either, but a well tailored cocktail dress is a fine thing. ~Mary

  41. 25 April 2009 9:24 am

Why don’t we have a thing as prom? They always sound like a sort of fairtytail.

Oh, and will you post a picture of your look later, the outfit you are going to wear sounds so gorgeous!

  42. 25 April 2009 1:59 pm

    hello!

  43. 25 April 2009 3:23 pm

eventhough i haven’t seen you, but i know you looked gorgeous on your prom!! our school had prom too like two days ago, and i went to watch all the glamourous cars, and dresses.. it’s all about the entry over here!

  44. 25 April 2009 3:50 pm

You can’t go wrong with simple glamour. At least you’re less likely to look back in your yearbook’s prom section nearly 10 years later and regret what
    you wore. Have fun~

my year ten formal (junior prom equivalent) was not exactly a highlight of high school but the getting ready and planning outfit part definately was!!

of course i wouldn’t expect an outfit anything less than perfect (as has been described) from you but i really do think we need photos to see 🙂
